About 2 months ago I came across Blissful Miss’s Natural Product Guides for the Ultimate You in my search for a natural and inexpensive shampoo and conditioner. I really like Blissful Miss’s lists as they provide a review of the products as well as a price and link to purchase.
I do a lot of research into the products I purchase. I like to use products that are not made up of a toxic chemicals. I also take price into consideration. I believe you should invest in your own health and that may be choosing a $20 item over a $12 one, however I have seen many over priced products that have the exact same ingredients as a product half the price.
Coconut oil has been something I love having in my house whether it be for cooking or as a moisturizer. Make sure you are purchasing unrefined coconut oil. I would say I use coconut oil on a daily bases. Here are a couple of my favorite ways to use coconut oil:
- Make Up Remover (slides of your face with water)
- Lotion (moisturizes dry skin)
- Conditioning Treatment (also great for those with dandruff)
- Oil Pulling (removes bacteria from your mouth)

I have also been using Tom’s deodorant. I really like the scent of this deodorant and the the texture (more gel than powder). I like it a lot better than my old deodorant, but do not feel it gives the best long term coverage. I have heard that when you first begin using natural deodorants your body will try to get rid of toxins and this may be why it is not my absolute favorite as of yet.
If you love colored hair having colored hair, one of my absolute favorite products to use is Overtone. Basically you can buy different colored conditioners that will “dye” your hair a certain color: pink, orange, blue, etc. This can be used to brighten and make your current hair color more vibrant and last longer or if you’re like me and are trying to get your hair healthy and full again from all the harsh dying it will dye your hair with each use and takes about a month to fully wash out (depending on how frequent you wash your hair).
Some of the many reasons I recommend this product:
- It is Vegan and not tested on animals.
- It actually strengthens your hair while you use it.
- It has no harmful chemicals – no peroxide, no ammonia, no heavy alcohols, and nothing that will dry out or damage your hair, even if you leave it on for hours every day.
- You can use the dye on unbleached hair (I have shades from blonde to medium brown in my hair though the “extreme” color is more of a pink tint on my brown strands and very bright on the blonde).
- The Conditioners are under $20.
- The now have Hair Glitter!
This is super easy to use and has worked great on my hair so far, I plan on doing a balayage soon to lighten my ends and then trying out a couple pastel conditioners.
One Brand I have come across that I really love is Lush. This is for SO many reasons with the top being that they are and awesome and ethical brand. All of their ingredients (and packaging!) are natural and not just the “natural” everyone labels their products as now, you can read all of the ingredients on the products or online and see for your self. Lush is also all vegetarian and does not test on animals.
Did you know that 60% of what you put on your body is absorbed through your skin?
According to Safecosmetics.org “The EU law bans 1,328 chemicals from cosmetics that are known or suspected to cause cancer, genetic mutation, reproductive harm or birth defects. In comparison, the U.S. FDA has only banned or restricted 11 chemicals from cosmetics.”
